Need a drummer?

I really don't know if any band would ever use it but it's a tribute to creativity and nerdyness none the less. I guess a few UK college students came up with this idea. The sound quality is not the best but it's worth a quick look...bring on the Robot Drummer.

USBCell batteries

These AA batteries offer something different. When the charge is gone or getting low, just flip the lid on the battery and plug it into your USB to charge it. 5 hours later, you are ready to go. A handy LED will light up once the battery is fully charged. Not a bad little idea.
USBCell batteries are available here for about $25 US.

From the Virgin Mary to Hello Kitty...Grilled cheese for me please!

If you have no idea what I am talking about that is ok...
A while back a grilled cheese sandwich got sold on eBay for $28,000...Don't believe me? read this. Since it had a grilled on picture of the Virgin Mary, it was worth that much (right?)
Well, this is no Virgin Mary but the Hello Kitty sandwich maker will make a nice little kitty image for you every time. Yummy. This little gizmo is available for about $50US here.

Oh my, toast related items keep showing up on my screen...if you want your name on toast for all to see you can go here and pay for it!

Got Snow? Buy a Wovel

Sick of your parents making you shovel their driveway? Is your back sore and you've found yourself shelling out $15 to the kid next door to shovel your walks for you? Well here comes the Wovel to the rescue. This handy wheeled snow scooper reduces exertion by around 80% and can chuck your snow in to piles as high as 4ft. It's fast and can whoop even a snow blower. If I was an young kid looking to clean up quick and easy on the snow removal market in my neighborhood you can bet I'd drop the $120US to get one.
The Wovel is available here.

PODZINGER: word searching in audio and video

It's no YouTube and looks like it was made by someone who is color blind. But if you can look past that, there is something very neat here. You can search for a particular word and it will bring back a bunch of video and audio clips that have that word being spoken in them. Now that is neat. I don't know how they are doing it but their audio to text program seems to work pretty well. Once the results come back you can click on the word you searched for and the video or audio clip with start playing with the first work you hear being the word you searched for...crazy! Check it out.

Batteries not included, or needed. Just add water.

Just pour water into this clock and it will work. No batteries, no solar power, no magic. Filling two tubes is apparently all that is needed. After a few seconds, this puppy lights up. Two months later, you will have to re-fill the tubes.
Not bad for about $10US. Interested? Check out this site for
more information.

Solar + Regular = Hybrid Light

Tired of those freekin fluorescent lights above your head every day of your life at the office? Here is something new. Its called Hybrid lighting. It will use direct sunlight energy transmitted through thin fiber optic lines to light up your space. When the sun is not shining, or its kinda cloudy, that is when the "Hybrid" part kicks in. The system will blend the solar light with your regular lighting system to make sure the room is always lit to a constant brightness. The system seems expensive, but they are going to save thousands of dollars in electricity bill costs for people who use a lot of power, like offices, retail stores and maybe even...Las Vegas baby! Yeah! If you are looking to buy it go to Sunlight Direct.

Here is a quick clip of the solar collector (using GPS) to always track the sun's position to within 1 degree:

Too lazy to get rid of that pumpkin?

Yes, Halloween is over, but driving around this weekend I still saw pumpkins out on the steps of many houses. Want to see what will happen to your pumpkin if you just...leave it? Eeeew. Moldy pumpkin.
Check this out:

Funky watch from TokyoFlash.

Ok, this watch is a must have for any wanna be James Bond. Finally, a watch that is not digital and is not the old school analog. This watch just has one blinking light that stops three times: once at the hour mark and twice at the number of minutes. That's it. Simple, easy and you're friends don't have one. I know what I want for Christmas. Looks like its about $130US and you can buy it here. Gotta run, its 7:49...

Transformers...step back, this robot has mad skills.

I played with a lot of Transformers when I was younger (I am still scarred from when my sister snapped the leg off my Optimus Prime) but I never had a robot that could do what these do. For about $1000 US, you too can have one. Maybe a little pricey but the rich giant nerds out there can afford them, and they would want to. Why? Not only would the girls you occasionally have over be wowed, it also comes with a Japanese software programming kit so you can flip bit switches and tweak servo's to your hearts content. Want to learn how? click here for the software manual.

A whiteboard that knows how to apply physics?

A week or so ago I came across this whiteboard and I could not believe my eyes. This whiteboard can apply the laws of physics to simple shapes. It must have some pre-defined properties such as weight, friction and hardness which the instructor in the video does not discuss, but none the less it is still a very impressive unit. I don't know who would buy this but its was nerdy enough to blog about...Enjoy!
